Review of the Aged Care Funding Instrument

The Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Indigenous Health, the Hon Ken Wyatt AM, MP has released the Review of the Aged Care Funding Instrument Report.

The department engaged Applied Aged Care Solutions to undertake the review and provide recommendations, focusing on:

• adapting the tool to be suitable for an external model;

• reducing subjectivity in relevant needs assessment questions; and

• bringing the tool in line with contemporary care practices.

More than $60 million for end-of-life care projects

The Turnbull Government is providing more than $60 million for new projects that will help improve quality and access to palliative care.

The funding announced today includes $45.4 million through the National Palliative Care Projects grants initiative for 12 projects that will help people on their final journey, and their families, with end-of-life care.

My Aged Care evaluation findings

The department conducted a second wave of research in late 2016 – early 2017 to evaluate the implementation of My Aged Care amongst consumers, assessors, service providers and other key stakeholder groups.

The objectives were to evaluate experiences and perceptions of the aged care system and My Aged Care since the first wave of research in early 2016.
